KENYA JEANS PROJECT
“A future in your pocket”
A children’s jeans line designed and manufactured by mamas of one of the planet’s most challenging ways of life – the Samburu.
Samburu Designs and Pepa & Co are teaming up for The Kenya Jeans Project. Every morning mamas from the Samburu tribe hand-embroider all Pepa & Co’s jean pockets at Sampiripiri workshop, using sustainable materials and ancient craftsmanship techniques. Once decorated, pockets are returned to London where the Spanish brand will finish and promote the Kenya Jeans!
Each pair of Kenya Jeans provide Samburu mamas with work and a salary that allows them to hold on to their traditions and lifestyle. It also improves their quality of life by giving them and their children access to food, education and health. Every bead supports a mama.
